During a snow storm in New York Patrick Horton had one of the best idea’s! He built an igloo in his backyard and put it for rent on Airbnb.
He made sure there where blankets, pillows and even some lights to create a cosy atmosphere. His description on Airbnb: “Dripping with ingenuity and altlifestyle aura lays the Snopocolypse of 2016’s most desirable getaway. Hand-crafted, and built using only natural elements- we’re offering the experience of a life time in this chic dome-style bungalow for you and bae.” For this al you pay 200 dollars (180 euro) per night. Airbnb where not so happy with the igloo on their site, they took it offline very quickly.
You can connect this very comfy igloo to leisure and experience economy. It has something to do with leisure because traveling and staying in a room from Airbnb is something you do in your free time. It’s an experience economy because you pay for the experience. Just staying in a regular hotel is not quite an experience anymore, but staying in an igloo is something most of us have never done.
If you want something with a little bit more luxury you could visit the Glass Igloos from Kakslauttanen company. While laying in bed you can watch the stars above you. In the igloo there will be a huge bed and a toilet. The sauna and showers are in a different building.
